Growing up in Dorchester, I was instilled with the values of hard work, community engagement, and unwavering principles. These values have been the cornerstone of my life's work, both personally and professionally.
My grandfather, Richard J. Murphy, was a beacon of community activism in the 1960s. He united local neighborhood associations under the Dorchester United Neighborhood Association (DUNA), advocating for the transformation of a former landfill into a vibrant community space. Today, that vision stands as the Richard J. Murphy School, surrounded by sports fields and playgrounds that have served thousands since 1965.
Through DUNA, Papa Murphy also established a community credit union, providing low-interest micro-loans to working families—a pioneering effort in financial inclusivity. His legacy of "thinking big" for the benefit of everyday neighbors continues to inspire my approach to public service.
Following in my grandfather's footsteps, I've dedicated myself to initiatives that uplift our community:
My journey has taught me the importance of listening to and amplifying the voices of our neighborhoods. I believe the City Council must be attuned to the needs and aspirations of all residents. I am committed to showing up, listening intently, and delivering results that reflect our community's values.
